Låt naturen bilda eleverna. En litteraturstudie om utomhusundervisning

Abstract
The aim of this literature review is to investigate if it is possible to improve students’ knowledge of plants through outdoor education in high school biology. If so, how should such education be implemented? Through database searches, articles were sorted out and compiled into a table. Trends that answered the questions were discovered and got presented in the result. The conclusion is that outdoor education will improve students’ learning of plants, but it also has positive effects on the students’ interests and awareness. When looking for teaching methods it was found that students’ interests should be valued in the design of lessons, and teachers should act as students’ guide to nature. It is further discussed whether it is nature itself or the authenticity of nature that matters. Another outcome discussed is how students’ knowledge and interests of plants seem to be mutually dependent on each other.
