| dc.description.abstract | Vegetated roofs, or green roofs which is the more common term, are roofs where the covering consists of vegetation. A vegetated roof is created by adding substrate and plants on a roof. In Scandinavia roof with vegetation has been used for a long time. Today there are several companies that offers produkts and services for establishment of vegetated roofs. Roof greening give a number of benefits; for exemple increased biodiversity, improved stormwater management and help to insulate buildings. To establish vegetated roof on an existing building with plants that suit the particular site is a relatively new activity in the gardening industry and establishment on site needs to be treated more. Design of extensive vegetatated roofs is an area that is not much treated. There are a few works in Swedish that deal with suitable plants for vegetated roofs. This work is all about selecting the right plants for a particular site and offers two design proposals inspiered by habitat study. | sv |
