Abstract
Esta tesina analiza cómo patriarcado y razón instrumental se relacionan en el relato y
cómo esta relación incide en el feminicidio de María en la novela El túnel de Ernesto
Sabato. El análisis se hace desde la perspectiva de la teoría feminista y la teoría crítica
de la escuela de Frankfurt aplicando conceptos como: patriarcado, ideología patriarcal,
control coercitivo y razón instrumental. Se usa el método de sociología de la literatura
desde el enfoque sociedad en la literatura, el cual permite indagar cómo un fenómeno
social como el patriarcado se refleja en la literatura. El resultado del análisis muestra
que en el proceso consciente que conlleva el feminicidio de María se recrean ideas y
valores característicos de ideologías patriarcales que, en conjunto con el pensamiento
extremadamente racionalista de Castel, impulsan un proceso de cosificación que hace
posible el asesinato de una mujer.
Description
This thesis analyzes how patriarchy and instrumental reason relate to each other in the
story and how this relation influences María's femicide in Ernesto Sabato's novel The
Tunnel. The analysis is conducted from the perspective of feminist theory and the
critical theory of the Frankfurt School, applying concepts such as patriarchy, patriarchal
ideology, coercive control, and instrumental reason. It is used the sociology of literature
method from the society-in-literature approach, which allows us to investigate how a
social phenomenon such as patriarchy is reflected in literature. The result of the analysis
shows that, in the conscious process that entails María's femicide, ideas and values
characteristic of patriarchal ideologies are recreated, which, together with Castel's
extremely rationalist thinking, drive a process of objectification that makes the murder
of a woman possible.
