The Chatedral church of Strängnäs keep a collection of books which has it´s origin in the 15th century. The collection was established by bishop Kort Rogge who educated in Liepzig and Perudia in the late medieval period, who brought back to Sweden his books of rare renessence historian bindings. During time, the collection has succesively expanded through donations and purchase. As part of Swedish law, Kulturmiljölagen (1988:950), the churches have significant protection as being part of the National Cultural Heritage. The study of the book collection in the Cathedral church of Strängnäs is influenced by the metod used by British Library called the Preservation Assesment Survey. The survey guides the investigator to choose an number of books comparable to the size of the number of books of the whole collection. The sample of books are investigated through a record for each book. The records are put together and show statistically the mesures needed. The investigation is described and ends with a discussion of the results. The results may be a scientific basis to the Cathedral Church of Strängnäs to recieve the federal grants from the National Swedish government to maintain preservation.sweChurchbook collectioninventorycultural heritagepreservationKyrkliga boksamlingar En inventering av Strängnäs domkyrkobibliotek med inriktning på status och bevarandSacred Books - An Inventory of the Book Collection in the Cathedral of Strängnäs with Focus on ConservationText
