Consultant based organizations find this difficult, mainly because of two reasons; the majority of their staff is geographically distributed and has a very tight time schedule. We consider net-based competence development as a possible solution to these problems. To initiate and conduct net-based competence development in groups, awareness of the critical factors for success in the e-learning project is essential. The main purpose of this master thesis is to: Increase the knowledge concerning how to initiate and conduct net-based competence development in groups. We studied a competence development program at Guide Datakonsult (later Guide/FramFab) for eight months. During this program 19 participating consultants used LearnLoop, a web-based third generation tool for education. We supported the course tutors in designing the program. The participants' activities were studied regarding content and frequency of use and in the end of the study we interviewed the members as well as the course tutors. Our study resulted in four key factors for group e-learning. These are: learning methodology, course purpose and goal, steering and group composition and development. These factors are summarized in a matrix intended to support initiators and leaders of similar projects: The matrix is the Key to e-learning.2045040 bytesapplication/pdfenNyckeln till elearing-en guide till nätbaserad kompetensutveckling för grupperD
