To accomplish this, one solution could be to work together with IT. For municipalities, this can be a complicated process when you are dependent on the resources that are given and subject to laws regarding procurement, this places great demands on the Swedish municipalities. One solution could be to work collaboratively with IT across municipal borders, this study examines the advantages and disadvantages of this. The study was conducted using interview and survey of various municipalities in the Gothenburg region. The study shows that there is joint work across municipal boundaries but that communication sometimes fails, this proves among other things that some communities feel they have a partnership with a municipality, while the other sees that they have no partnership. With the results from the study are discussed and problematized the current conditions that exist between the municipalities today, and how they could change. The study shows that different types at ways to work together to bring different advantages and disadvantages. För att lyckas med detta kan en lösning för kommuner vara att arbeta gemensamt gällande IT frågor. För kommuner kan detta bli en komplicerad process då man är beroende av de medel och resurser som tilldelas. Kommuner lyder även under lagar som rör upphandling. Detta ställer stora krav på de svenska kommunerna. En lösning skulle kunna vara att arbeta gemensamt med IT över kommungränserna. Denna studie undersöker fördelarna samt nackdelarna med detta. Studien genomförs med hjälp av intervju och enkät hos olika kommuner i Göteborgsregionen. I studien framkommer det att det finns gemensamt arbete över kommungränserna, men att kommunikationen ibland brister. Detta visar sig bland annat genom att vissa kommuner anser sig ha ett samarbete med en annan specifik kommun medan den andra ser att det inte finns något samarbete. Med resultatet från studien diskuteras och problematiseras de rådande förhållanden som finns mellan kommunerna idag samt hur de skulle kunna förändras.
