”Behind The Mirror” Perception och tolkning av Blutengel hos deras fans

This paper strives to answer ”What happens to the experience of diehard fans when a group changes an original song?” and the musical example for this are the German group Blutengel and their songs Behind The Mirror and Reich mir die Hand, which they first performed as symphonic versions at 2012’s Gothic meets Klassik in Leipzig, Germany. Theoretically this paper is built on the idea that musical meaning conjures not only from the music itself, but also from the perceiver and the situation. Through five interviews this paper answers who the informants are, what music means for them and specifically, what the music of Blutengel means for them. The result shows that the informants were acceptant to the musical change, but for some disappointment would occur if the band continued with orchestral instrumentation. The limit for acceptance seems not to lie in musical rearrangement but instead in changed artistic identity.
"Snatteranka och mulåsna!" – En jämförelse av kapten Haddocks kraftuttryck i översättningarna av Det hemliga vapnet.

Denna uppsats undersöker stilfigurer hos kapten Haddocks kraftuttryck och kraftiga tillmälen i de båda svenska översättningarna av Hergés Tintin Det hemliga vapnet. Syftet är att se om samma typ av stilfigur har behållits, ändrats eller tagits bort. Undersökningen visar att 11 stycken har behållits, fem har ändrats och 12 stilfigurer har tagits bort i den nya översättningen. Däremot tillkommer det 28 stycken stilfigurer i den nyare översättningen. Uppsatsen går vidare med att undersöka om de fem ändrade stilfigurerna uppfyller sina tillskrivna uppgifter kontextuellt. För Tintin som en produkt av en litterär underhållningsgenre, undersöks också om dessa fem exempel fyller den roande uppgiften, delectare. Teorier till grund för uppsatsen kretsar kring kraftuttryck, översättning och stilfigurer. Bakgrunden för att studera översättning och val av kraftuttryck samt stilfigurer ligger i censureringsdebatten runt Tintin i Kongo och dess påstådda rasism i albumets text och bild. Hypotesen är att den nya översättningen visar på ändrade kraftuttryck för att vara mer politiskt korrekt än den äldre översättningen.

The purpose of this essay is to reveal how eight informants perceive and experience both known and unknown show openings for tv-series and how they describe this in terms of thoughts, feelings and experiences. This aim was reached through qualitative interviews with the informants with some guided questions where they watched the selected show openings and talked about them as they wished. Before the second viewing of the selected show openings, the informant was instructed to hit the pause-button if something in the audio-visual material caught their attention. This essay builds its theoretical base on different research in musicology, it stretches over multiple fields such as audio-visual meaning, phenomenology, and simple musical analysis. Each show opening has been analysed regarding to these musical parameters: tempo, tonality, dynamics, pitch, harmony, timbre, tone approaches (attack) and rhythm. This essay has a slightly greater emphasis on the audio rather than the visual. In many cases, the informants noticed the same or similar things, and also had similar thoughts regarding what they saw. Every informant has given me their own description of their experience, these descriptions were short, long or somewhat in-between. This shows how diverse the human multimodal experience is: sound and image combined in a complex structure of meaning-making elements.
