Item LEXIN - lexikon för invandrare(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 1999) Gellerstam, Martin; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketBilingual dictionaries for immigrants have been produced in Sweden since the late seventies in the framework of the LEXIN project (LEXikon för INvandrare), funded by the Swedish government. The main features ofthis project are discussed together with problems connected with the use of Swedish as a common denominator of the bilingual dictionaries and the possibilities of "translating" the Swedish base into other Scandinavian languages.Item Bevingat – en nyskriven berättande ordbok(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2001) Sköldberg, Emma; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketBevingat från Adam & Eva till Oväntat besök av Birgitta Hellsing, Magdalena Hellquist och Anders Hallengren. It dates back to 1874 when there was a lively discussion going on in Sweden concerning spelling. The paper gives a few glimpses of the historic development up to the present 12th edition. The main issue is the balance between the prescriptive and descriptive policy, and it is argued that the two concepts are not in opposition. There is a broad descriptive basis and a smaller set of alternatives where one form for different reasons is suggested on the expence of another. Prescription in such alternative forms is discussed in vocabulary, ortho-graphy, inflection and word formation.Item Normering i Svenska Akademiens ordlista 1874–1950: principer och resultat(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2002) Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketThis paper gives a historical survey of the first nine editions (till 1950) of the Swedish Academy Glossary (Svenska Akademiens ordlista, SAOL), a dictionary that provides the Swedish norm of spelling and inflection. Some orthographic and morphological recommendations of the glossary are compared with the real use. The main drawback of the first editions (1874–89) is that they contained very few lemmas, and almost no recent loanwords. From the 1900 edition and onwards, the number of lemmas is quite respectable, but throughout the period the SAOL is characterized by a conservative tendency; there are several examples of spellings and morphological categories – as is shown in the paper – that are recommended by the dictionary long after they have become outdated.Item Förord - LexicoNordica 10 – 2003(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2003) Bergenholtz, Henning; Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketItem En fyrspråkig 1700-talsordbok och dess bakgrund(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2003) Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketLennart Larsson: Varifrån kom svenskan? Lexicographers are faced with the almost impossible task of presenting equivalents of headwords and translations of phrases and sentences without stating the exact context of the lexical item. These problems are discussed with reference to some theoretical studies and two practical examples from bilingual dictionaries.Item Förord - LexicoNordica 11 – 2004(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2004) Bergenholtz, Henning; Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketItem Skolordlistan i ny tappning(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2005) Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketSvensk skolordlista. The focus is on CD-ROM dictionaries, mainly defining ones, and their functionalities of technical and conceptual character. It is assumed here that the content, structure and functionalities of the electronic dictionaries of today can make a relevant contribution to designing the truly electronic dictionaries of the future. Some proposals for extending the content of the next generation dictionaries are suggested. The question of using a more sophisticated structural and functional access to the information is also discussed.Item Förord - LexicoNordica 12 – 2005(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2005) Bergenholtz, Henning; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketItem SAOB ett steg närmare målet(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2006) Malmgren, Sven-Göran; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketOrdbok över svenska språket utgiven av Svenska Akademien. One year ago I studied the log files from one of the free electronic learner dictionaries in Lexin online (dictionaries for immigrants); the monolingual Svenska ord. The log file analysis has now been followed up by a web questionnaire about the users of the very same dictionary. This article presents the result of the questionnaire where users were asked, firstly, basic questions of age, gender, native language etc. and, secondly, questions concerning their searches in the dictionary. Also, the article shortly discusses the conditions for future studies of dictionary users and dictionary usage.Item Talesätt och talemaader: om ordförbindelser hos Dalin och Molbech(Nordisk forening for leksikografi i samarbeit med Nordisk språksekretariat, 2009) Sköldberg, Emma; University of Gothenburg/Department of Swedish; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för svenska språketIn this paper I present a study which contributes to the description of lexicographic traditions in Sweden and Denmark. More exactly, the study concerns the treatment of word combinations, which are followed by some kind of explanation, in two 19th century monolingual dictionaries. The works are the Swedish dictionary Ordbok öfver svenska språket (1850–55) by A. F. Dalin and the Danish dictionary Dansk Ordbog (…) (1833) by C. Molbech. The focus is, among other things, on the frequencies and types of word combinations that are represented in the data. Furthermore, I consider in which entries the word combinations are found, and the position of the expressions in the microstrucure of the articles. Moreover, I discuss the form and meaning of the word combinations and, finally, the authors’ use of (signed) examples.
