Item Exploateringsvilja kontra bevarandeambitioner avseende ”Lyckornas klimatiska kurort och havsbads-anstalt”(2010-06-29) Larsson, Anette; University of Gothenburg/Department of Conservation; Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård”Lyckornas klimatiska kurort och havsbads-anstalt” in Lyckorna, the municipality of Uddevalla, was founded in 1877 by the scotschman Robert Macfie and is one of the later seaside- and health resorts in Sweden. The first public bath in Lyckorna was built in 1842 but the early resort activities were carried out in a small scale. Within the Lyckorna-area, there are plenty of valuable cultural buildings from the time around the turn of the century 1800/1900 in the form of architect drawn summer houses with gardens and other valuable cultural environments, for example various walkways and parks which have been used since the resort days. In addition to the architect drawn houses, there are several houses which are built in a traditional architectural style, for example in the form of so called double houses, often with glassed in porches. This thesis is intended to describe how the municipality of Uddevalla through the use of the Swedish Planning and Building Act has regulated the use of land and water and the shaping of buildings in the Lyckorna-area. This has been done through the preparation of legally binding plans. Such plans may also regulate how valuable cultural buildings and building areas shall be protected.
