PATIENTJOURNALENS DIGITALA UTVECKLING En studie samt en jämförande analys av den traditionella (pappers) och den elektroniska patientjournalen

Abstract

A paradigmshift was going on in our modern society under the last decades, which could result in a painless transition from the old, hierarchic (functionsoriented) way of thinking to the new, networkbased (processoriented) health service with higher effectiveness and even larger possibilities of communication. These facts made possible that medical informations could be managed more successfully in the health service, which for example could be realized by a transition from the paper journal to the e-journal. My foremost purpose was to examine the process of the journalhandling together with aspects of the integrity and the security as well, from the perspective of the information treatment. I also wanted to compare the paper patientjournal with the electronic patientjournal (Melior 1.5) according to their advantages respectively disadvantages. The empirical examination was carried out at The unit for transplantation and liversurgery (unit 20 & 33) in the hospital area of SU/Sahlgrenska. The study itself was accomplished with hermeneutic (qualitative approach), ethnography (qualitative method) and a qualitative analyse of the interview answers. The empirical material was collected by observations, fieldnotes and interviews. The conclusion showed a positive development in the health service through practical application of the Melior (1.5)-system, which also seemed to be an aid for a better follow-up of both a properly shaped, written information policy and the whole health service in progress. There were even expressed certain wishes by nursing personnel regarding possible improvements of the Melior (1.5)-system’s usefulness and anxious experiments to find solution to complex of problems of the compatibility in the connection with the existing computerized systems, which presuppose more development and research works in the future.
