dc.description.abstract | We can see an increasing middle age population in large parts of the world. People are healthier when they retire than they were before. As people grow older, physical and mental changes occur that can make the use of cars more complicated. The possibility to travel by car is important for many people to keep the connection with the society and to feel independent. How can Volvo cars face the needs of this growing target group?
The purpose of this project is to make a car concept that responds to those needs, it is therefore important to maintain the values of Volvo cars. The Scandinavian environment has been a large inspiration for the design development. I have considered how the target group’s need might change in the future as the concept is made for a market around 2020.
The concept has been made to fit a larger target group. The approach is to make the solution feel exclusive and express premium quality instead of helping device.
I have worked with both the exterior and the interior of the car
however the focus is on the exterior. The areas worked with is; how to get in and out, loading the trunk, visibility, information in the car and comfort.
The conclusion from this project is that the design solutions could make it easier for people over 65 including other groups, for example families with small children. | en |
