In Sweden, exercise takes a great part in people’s lives. Health and a good conditioned body go hand in hand. Many Swedes exercise in groups, with aerobics or a similar form of workout at a training facility. A regular workout lasts for about an hour and is accompanied by music. There are national sound level recommendations that shall be used to prevent the participants from developing hearing disorders when exercising in these types of premises. Our study investigates if there are differences in sound levels where there is a sound-level-monitor (SoundEar) in use or not. We have also looked upon attitudes concerning the use of music as a “work tool” and the sound environment by interviewing responsible persons at the training facility. We found no significant difference in sound levels between the two groups. The sound levels presented were below the threshold value, but results show that it is a risky environment for the instructors.en
