Vad utmärker den goda sjuksköterskan?

What makes a good nurse?

Abstract
Background: When a child ends up in a hospital the whole family will be affected. The family’s situation can be turned upside down and the daily life can be affected. The nurse needs to have a holistic approach when caring for the child and the rest of the family. For the nurse to be able to provide personalized information and care, they need a relationship with the child and family. The nurse can by knowing the whole family, give advice and support. Aim: The aim of this work is to describe what the children and the family believe is important in meeting with the good nurse in child care. Method: The literature study is based on articles which are produced from two databases, CINAHL and PubMed, and manual search. The articles have then been reviewed from an inductive approach and analysed as a literature overview. Result: Many children and parents have expectations, experience and advice to share with the nurse, this is acknowledged in current research. The result is divided into two parts, children and parents. The two results have three domains in common: expectations on the nurse, experience and advice to the nurse. The result shows children’s and parents positive views about the good nurse. Discussion: Nurses have much to learn in the meeting with children and parents. Children have a different perspective than adults and evaluate other things. Nurses needs to consider both children’s and parents views and wishes. As a nurse there isn’t always time to meet these wishes. It is important to make the best of the time that is given and then try to give as good, individualized care as possible.
