Invoxicated is an interactive play sculpture where children can explore the wonderful and playful opportunities of sound. Talk into one end of the sculpture, and the sound will travel through the sculpture and come out in the other end. On its way, the sound gets distorted by a number of sound effects. By bending the sculpture’s body, and pressing the sculpture’s buttons, the sound effects gets altered in real time. This creates an spontaneous and unconditioned play which I think suits the modern child. The main target group is between six and twelve years old. An interesting age difference where the young children look up to the older, and the older doesn’t want to have anything to do with the young ones. My goal was to create a sculpture rather then a playground equipment. This gives the product a chance to break new ground for play and take the play to other places in the city space. I tried to include as many as possible in the play with Invoxicated. This was the reason why I also worked with light and vibration, to add other possible senses to experience the sound. My inspiration lies in interaction design, art and music, rather then in playground equipment.sv
