Visningsträdgård på produktionsgård. En undersökning av förutsättningarna för Fristorp gård

Abstract

I have received an order from the company Fristorp farm. The company is located at the foot of Hunneberg just outside Trollhättan in Sweden. They grow and process fruit, berries and some vegetables. They have had their business for a couple of years but are now expanding and building an apple cider factory that will be completed in autumn 2012. They will also build a shop and café that is expected to be completed by 2013. They would then have the opportunity to show their production garden for visitors. My mission has been to design a show garden of their production garden, where they can show their plantation to visitors.

The garden has three different functions to get along with each other; a production garden, a show garden for visitors and a private garden which the family uses. The farm also has an ancient history dating back to the 1600s.

I have in my study used a historical survey. I've also done three different case studies and then used the Läckö Castle, Gunnebo castle and gardens, and Kivik apple cider factory show garden. I also made a situation analysis which I divided into three parts; a location analysis, a needs analysis and finally a sustainability analysis. All studies have since resulted in a design proposal that will work for the three different functions.
