”Den stora förändringen”. En mönsterkollektion höst/vinter 2013
Abstract
The big change is a project where I created patterns on fabric. It is a collaborative project with Lotta Niemi. She studied fashion and textile designers and tailors from the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and University of Technology in Sydney. The collaboration was to create designs on fabric for her upcoming clothing line for women, Fall / Winter 2013. The clothes will be sold online, in stores in Sweden and Japan.
For Lotta Niemi’s clothing line, I wanted to create exclusive designs, rich patterns that worked out handmade and digital. My inspiration I found in natural forms and colors.
Through an exploratory project, I wanted to look at the pattern size, design and color. I strove for greater strength and development in my pattern making, to challenge myself by breaking my security process and experiment without thinking of the end result. I was looking for a change in my shape language by having a free process that opens up a new and daring level. Experimenting much has led to I used different designs and worked in layers to get the depth of the patterns, even worked a lot of contrast and color. A conscious choice was to work with abstract motifs to create a change then I worked very representational earlier. The whole time, I have made careful choices but also allowed me to use randomness as a tool.
The result became a pattern collection consisting of four patterns. They are printed on Tobex in Borås press digital printing. The patterns called Leaf, Strain, Birch and Mushroom.
The Blade has a report size of 50x40 cm and is reported halvförsatt, Blade is printed on cotton and is meant for a dress. Birch has a report size of 50x40cm and is also reported halvförsatt but is printed on micro polyester and will be a tunic. The Strain has a report size of 150x100cm and is only reported on height, Strain is printed on velvet and is meant for a pair of pants. The Mushroom has a report size of 100x100cm and is reported around on all sides, the Mushroom is also printed on velvet but is supposed to coat.
