| dc.description | A hearing loss may affect the identity development and participation among adolescents. To understand adolescents with hearing loss in modern society, it’s of great importance to ascertain how identity- and participation processes occur in new areas, such as the internet.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate what research shown regarding identity development among adolescents with hearing loss and whether social processes on the internet may influence the participation of this group.
Method: A literature review was conducted to obtain a cohesive framework of research about participation processes and identity development among adolescents. Included articles have been published 1995-2015.
Results: The results show the importance of the individual’s identification with the surrounding. Communication between adolescents and the surrounding, but also negative or positive experiences concerning the hearing loss seems to affect the adolescent’s identity formation. The internet may provide increased participation through access to information, stay connected with family/friends and facilitates communication for adolescents with hearing loss.
Conclusion: Identity development seems to be based on adolescents’ surroundings. The internet appears to serve as an instrument for increased participation; although the internet may pose a risk. | sv |
| dc.description.abstract | En hörselnedsättning kan ha en inverkan på identitetsutvecklingen och delaktighet hos tonåringar. För att förstå tonåringar med hörselnedsättning i det moderna samhället är det av stor vikt att undersöka hur identitets- och delaktighetsprocesser sker på nya arenor, såsom internet.
Syfte: Syftet är att undersöka vad forskning visat gällande identitetsutveckling hos tonåringar med hörselnedsättning och om sociala processer på internet kan inverka på delaktigheten hos denna grupp.
Metod: En litteraturstudie görs för att få en sammanfattande bild av forskning kring delaktighetsprocesser och identitetsutveckling hos tonåringar med hörselnedsättning. Materialet består av artiklar publicerade mellan 1995-2015.
Resultat: Resultatet visar att tonåringar verkar ha behov av att pröva sin identitet mot sin omgivning. Kommunikationssätt mellan tonåring och miljö, samt negativa eller positiva upplevelser kring hörselnedsättningen verkar påverka tonåringens identitet. Internet kan ge ökad delaktighet genom tillgång till information, att hålla kontakt med familj/vänner och underlätta kommunikationen för tonåringar med hörselnedsättning.
Konklusion: Identitetsutveckling verkar ske utifrån tonåringens omgivning. Internet ser ut att kunna fungera som ett verktyg för ökad delaktighet; även om internet även kan utgöra risk. | sv |
