Remningstorps herrgård – trädgårdens utveckling från 1850-tal och fram till idag

Remningstorps Mansion – The development of the garden from 1850s and until today

Sammanfattning
Remningstorp is a mansion owned by Hildur and Sven Wingquist Foundation for forest scientific research, and Skogssällskapet manages the property. The mansion is located in Västergötland, Skara municipality, next to the lake Flämsjön. The aim is to make a historic cultural valuation of Remningstorps garden and documentation from 1850s, and the most significant changes that have taken place until today. The aim is thematic maps and documentation in order to highlight a range of cultural values in the garden, worth preserving. My questions concernes how the garden looked like in the 1850s until today and what changes have occurred and what can be preserved or recreated? The demarcation is the garden nearest the corps de logi and the two smaller buildings and then down to the lake Flämsjön. The timeframe is from 1850 until today and the study lasted 8-10 weeks in March and April. In the method for the study included literature-, archive- and fieldstudies, interviews and GIS applications. The material used was maps, plans, photos, drawings, accounts, garden history literature and articles. The result is the documentation and thematic maps. The investigation begun with Remningstorps former garden that can be derived from Zweigbergks time from 1850, according to a plan that is kept in the mansion archive. During the next owner, Planting - Gyllenbåga there wasn’t any major changes. Wingquist, inventor of bearings in 1907 and founder of SKF, bought Remningstorp 1912 and several great changes are taking place then. Wingquist, teared down the old bildings and built new. He expanded the property from nearly 200 ha to 1500 ha. After Wingquist death 1953, the structure of the garden becames more simplified and with larger grassy plans.
