Jämställdhet över Unionen: En jämförande analys av Europeiska kommissionens strategiplaner 2010-2015 och 2016-2019
Sammanfattning
The equality between men and women has been for a long time goal for the European Union, going even way back to the treaty of Rome in 1957 when it was decided that there would be equal pay between the sexes. Since then there have been several strategy plans and actions taken by the European Commission to shorten the social equality gap between men and women - in the work space and so forth. This bachelor thesis compares the two latest strategy plans proposed by the Commission, with the critical gender studies of Mieke Verloo, Maria Bustelo and Emanuela
Lombardo as critical perspective. Two booklets from the Comission that describes the actions and plans to increase equality from 2010 to 2015 and 2016 to 2019 respectivly were studied. The results were mixed: even tough there were development on course of action in the later strategy plan, there were still lot's of similar issues in both plans, especially when dealing with the issue of economic independence. Discussions were made about how much the progress means for equality, but in the end the thesis concludes with that there were some sort progress none the less.
