Abstract

The purpose of this thesis was to research different methods for learning orchestral excerpts and orchestral parts as a flautist. Studying scores, listening to music, private lessons, watching online-lessons and my own practice was the main methods I used. I recorded myself when playing the excerpts to analyse and discuss what I gained from each method. I came to the conclusion that studying scores helped me in several ways, and that it is important to hear well-experienced orchestral musicians thoughts, as well as get response on your own playing.
