What is a fold? To fold is to bend, to allow something to head another way. Folding calls for elasticity and movement. I am fascinated by the fold. With it comes the opportunity to unfold. To refold. In that which is folded lies more than one truth. In my project OCH / VECK I use the fold as an image for this, but also as a method for creating patterns through dyeing. I fold fabric and use the technique of clamp resist to prevent the dye from reaching certain parts of it. I explore how a material work can be used in relation to thought and theory in an artistic process. By acknowledging the specific qualities of a textile material I have worked with pattern and colour to create pieces expressing something about folds. OCH / VECK is depicting a recurrence that is changing, shifting. As photographs of something that happened through the layers. As sheets carrying a story of a folded reality.sv
