MINIMILÖN OCH TILLFREDSSTÄLLELSE MED ARBETET - Ett kvasi-naturligt experiment i Storbritannien

Abstract
This paper investigates the effects of a minimum wage that was implemented first of April 1999 in the United Kingdom. The national minimum wage act meant in practice that everyone at an age of 22 or older should earn at least 3.6£/hour. More precisely this paper investigates if those who got their pay raised due to the act got more or less satisfied with their jobs. We collect our data from The British Household Survey and use Stata to make some estimates of changes with the difference-in-difference method. We can’t find any statistic significant effect when we look at job overall satisfaction among those who got their pay raised. A bit surprising we neither can't find a significant difference in satisfaction when we look at wages isolated. What we do find in our investigation is that those who reported a pay raise due to the act shows an average lower willingness to seek a new employer.
