Shrouding blankets 2017
Summary
A Weaving Research Group at HDK I initiated is hand weaving shrouding blankets for children and fetuses who die during pregnancy or delivery. To wrap, to hold and to embrace have been the words that leads us in this artistic exploration. 90 hand woven blankets were exhibited in Smålands museum 2017.

Weaving information:
The weaving is being conducted on a loom with double beams. One warp consists of cotton, one of wool. All the weavers make individual choices about bindings, materials and colours for the weft.
After weaving the material is hemmed and felted Each shrouding blanket is accompanied by a small sewn sheet, as part of the project
The Weaving Research group consists of students, alumni and colleagues at HDK:
Saramy Bernetoft, Marianne Davidsson, Anna Eklind, Sofie Karlsson, Hanna Larsson, Subani Melin, Terese Molin, Gunnel Stehn, Barbro Wingstrand and Birgitta Nordström, responsible for the research.
