Wagnertuban

Abstract

In this thesis I have studied the Wagner tuba and the origin of the instrument. I have learnt how to play the instrument and done recordings of an etude by Georg Kopprasch, one recording when I've just started to practice the tuba and one when I've practiced on the instrument for 2 months and these recordings where to hear the progress and development. I´ve also done recordings of excerpts from Richard Wagner Das Rheingold and Richard Strauss Ein Heldenleben on both the French horn and the Wagner tuba to compare the difference in the instruments from technical to musical aspects.
