Kulturarv från Carl Wilhelmson
Sammanfattning
This is an ethnological essay about the artist Carl Wilhelmson (1866-1928). I have looked into his role as a documentary painter from his native place, Fiskebäckskil. His subjects change as the community changes. From a community living on shipping and fishing, it has turned into a place for summer visitors. What did his birthplace mean to him and what does he mean for us today? How is he described in older investigations? I have made a short analysis on Axel. L. Romdahl’s publication from 1938. Carl Wilhelmson built his big house in a “national romantic” style and today it is classified as a historical monument impressing many visitors. His descendants own it and stay there during summer. One day every year they open it to the public. I have asked visitors this summer about their opinion after the guiding. Visitors really appreciate to listen to stories about the person Carl and his relation to the place. The association Sjöstjärnan for which Carl Wilhelmson was one of the founders, has succeeded well in fulfilling the aim to protect local areas of interest to culture and natural history.
