pXRF analys utförd på förhistorisk keramik

Abstract
This thesis analyses finds of pottery from the late Bronze and early Iron ages found in Gothenburg. The pottery chosen are from the locations Angered 5, Angered 20 and Angered 59. The thesis presents how different parts of pottery have been analyzed with pXRF. The different results of the pXRF- analysis will be presented and discussed, on whether the results may indicate any provenience of the pottery and if the results may indicate human connections between the different locations. The conclusion is that the technique lacks in precision and that, without a common public database containing relevant facts on local clay sources, the technique should only be carefully used as a scientific tool for the purpose of determining provenience of prehistoric Scandinavian pottery.
