dc.description.abstract | The objective of this paper is to analyze why and how some texts leave us with a feeling of uncertainty, here called "the effect of uncertainty". The analysis is based on a comparison of "Olingiris" by Samanta Schweblin. "La culpa es de los tlaxcaltecas" by Elena Garro and finally "El árbol" by María Luisa Bombal. The three stories are written in three different eras and they revolve around the axis of the fantastic. "El árbol” is written in the avant-garde era, "La culpa es de los tlaxcaltecas " during the boom and "Olingiris" is a contemporary story. The analysis is based on the reception theory of Wolfgang Iser. We have also used the theories of the fantasy genre of David Roas and Rosemary Jackson to provide our analysis. To reach our conclusions we have analyzed both the textual structure and the theme. Our conclusion is that the effect of uncertainty arises in two ways; uncertainties and the absurd and the structure of the narrative that leaves blanks where it requires an active reader who fills the blanks with her own imagination. | sv |
