Metoder för att utforma fackfyllnadens möte med stolpen i ett halvnaket skelettverk
Methods of joining the infill and post in a half-timber construction
Sammanfattning
This thesis investigates eight different industrially processed building products and how they can be used on a traditional half-timbred work and still leave the timbers exposed both internally and externally. The focus is on the joint between the infill and the post, where the highest risk of air leakage occurs.
The ambition is to design the joint as simple as possible to get a frugal, sustainable solution for everyone involved in the buildings lifecycle. No tapes or membranes are used and the infill materials are chosen for their low emissions of VOC, minimal use of petrochemical compounds and because they have a hygroscopic ability. This is to enable easy maintenance, and a get a more resilient, fail safe construction.
The two different principles of joining the infill to the post that is compared in this thesis is with a groove or with a rebate and a wooden board or plank outside, forming a groove.
A full-scale model of 8” x 8” post and sill frame is constructed with a floor size of about 50 m2. The eight different infills are tested with the two different principles of joining the building elements. The tools used are both traditional hand tools and modern electrical hand operated machines.
Finally, in the results, the author presents the experiences of materials and methods used in the experiments as 16 suggested wall constructions. Further testing is needed to find out how the different principles of joining works with the different materials in reducing air conduction.
