Hällristningar och graffiti ur ett flerdimensionellt perspektiv

En mikroarkeologisk analys av textkommunikation via bilder på hällar under bronsåldern och i nutid

Abstract
This essay compares Scandinavian rock carvings, from the bronze age (1700-500 BC) with modern day graffiti. The rock carvings are found in northern parts of Bohuslän and western parts of Västra Götaland on the Swedish west coast, and by the Mälaren on Sweden's east coast. The graffiti is located on a small island connected to Gothenburg city, in the southern west coast archipelago. The essay aims to re-contextualize rock carvings and graffiti by comparing them in a microarchaeological manner. By comparing different aspects in the different image-cultures, symbological orders and linguistic articulations of the images can be explored. The essay explores a different methodology that can be used for interpretation of images as material culture. Theoretical perspectives are borrowed from the fields of linguistics, social anthropology, sociology and psychology.
