This report aims to examine how the HR-managers role has changed during the last three decades by analyzing job descriptions from job adverts published in 1990 and comparing them to similar adverts from 2019. The report is based on a qualitative analysis of job adverts. A total of 24 adverts were analyzed and used in the study. The HR-managers role has evolved to become more strategic today than 30 years ago, but the change found in this study is not radical. There is though, a clear change in the amount of support given from HR-managers to other managers and management teams in the organizations, and HR-managers are also more involved in management teams and in their work today than they were 30 years ago. The HR-role is also portraited as a much more value creating resource in the organization in today’s job adverts comparing to the ones published in 1990. Another finding is that the rhetoric used in the job adverts from 1990 are quite different from the ones from 2019 when comparing words used for work tasks, especially regarding strategic and value creating work tasks.sv
