Fabrica.
Sammanfattning
”Fabrica” was developed in dialogue with artist Kristin Abhalter Smith and curated by Chris Reeves for Flatland (an artist-run-space located at the Central Manufacturing District in Chicago -the first planned office park in the USA).
Beskrivning av projektet
“Fabrica” (En: to make, to manufacture) results from the dialogue with artist Kristin Abhalter Smith around our shared interest in the figure of the inflatable air-dancer as an artistic model to examine the relation between modes and sites of production and neoliberal logic. This dialogue was curated by Christ Reeves for the artist-run-space “Flatland” which is located inside of the Central Manufacturing District in Chicago, the first planned office park in the USA.
“Fabrica” proposed an in situ approach, combining found elements on site with narrational pieces (my contribution) and sculptural insertions (Smith’s contributions), in the attempt to establish relationships between the symbolism of the air-dancer and the construction of political and affective imaginaries within capitalistic landscape.
“Fabrica” designed a trail throughout Central Manufacturing District in Chicago, offering those attending the opportunity to embody the site and to discover traces of its past activity as well as our interventions within it, which where both transformed by the site and intervening on site.
