This study analyzes the correlation between foreign language anxiety and motivation of 14 French persons living in Sweden. The works on the preliminary evidence of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale by Horwitz et al. (1986) and Caël’s study (2017) on the attitudes of seven French persons towards the English language in France and anxiety constitute the point of departure. Our participants have been administered an adaptation of Caël’s (2017) survey before two of them took part in an individual interview including in-depth information about the subject of this study. The results are three-fold: First, the French participants living in Sweden show less foreign language anxiety than Caël’s (2017) informants living in France. Second, the influence of motivation on the quality of foreign language acquisition/learning. Third, the self-efficacy factor inside the concept of motivation has shown a decrease in the participants’ level of anxiety.sv
