TUNN ELLER TJOCK IDENTITET? En komparativ studie av Kommissionens främjande av europeisk identitet före och efter migrationskrisen Författare: Isabella Claesson Handledare: Mats Andrén Termin: HT

Abstract
In Europe there is an ongoing debate regarding European identity. Various dimensions of the phenomenon have yet been researched, although a still unexamined part is the comparison be-tween how the two presidents of the Commission, Barroso and Juncker, express themselves concerning the encouragement of the European identity and integration before and after the period of the migration crisis in 2015. Therefore this thesis is aimed to investigate an eventual difference between them two connected to the period of the migration crisis. The thesis origi-nates from the theories of Gerard Delanty about the European identity and his models of identity building. For the research a qualitative content analysis was used which gave results that indi-cated a difference in what identity models they seemed to use and what values they wanted to build a European identity on.
