Summary
XX’s Linocuts is an installation piece that draws attention to the mediation of a linocut by XX – a fictitious character and returning figure in my artistic practice. She emerged during the first year of my PhD research at Valand Academy.

Description of project
XX’s Linocuts
Eva la Cour, 2019.
Linocut (56cmx76cm) og video (9min (loop)).
XX’s Linocuts is a contribution to the exhibition Myte-figur-myte-figur at ‘Kunsthal ved siden af’, seeking contemporary perspectives on the myth and figure of the artist. Presented as a collaboration between myself and XX – a fictitious character and invented figure – the installation consists of two elements: A linocut and a digital video that appear as a kind of mediation screen for the linocut. The screen displays a text dialogue, in which XX and I discuss the contemporary condition for visual production as a historical effect with a focus on valorization of artistic authenticity.
