Situations for Collaborative work
Situations for Collaborative work part 3/4, Ängelholms strand
Sammanfattning
Collaborative work in four situations at four different sites between June - December 2020. Work centered around the wooden laths within the project (material) Site Recordings in Ystad, Ängeholm and Göteborg.
Artistic Development project funded by the Faculty of …. during 2020. A platform to more clearly formulate and develop our collaborative practice within the artistic field. Our together-work is always the hub in our process, independent of material, time or outcome. The dialogic work contains ourselves, the material, the space and its visitors.

The beach of Ängelholm
In October 2020 we went to Ängelholm for a two-day sculpture session where we intended to work temporarily with material broken in the process of our work in Kronoskogen, Ängelholm since 2018. We moved some 300 pieces of laths in various lengths to the beach close by. Our intention was to test the work in close proximity to the water and we choose a site right on the edge between ocean and beach hoping the tide would be a part of changing the experience of the work. The sky was deep gray with sharp sunbeams coming thru, the wind was light, the setting was good.
The project took two very different paths over the 48 hours we worked, where one was a focused drawing with wood close to the ocean and the other a Facebook thread in an Ängelholm forum called ”Vad händer I Ängelholm” that rolled 100+ comments in one day. The piece turned into one part temporary sculpture that was only visible for one day, and one part permanent digital piece on an internet forum.
We tried to work even slower, and the material being different sizes, often short, opened for a different type of ”drawing together with wood” where the sand offered an easy worked base for construction and the water creating a mirror for the work.
We had hoped for wind and heavy tide, since we knew this part of the beach can really get flooded, but the wind went the other way and we spent long hours waiting for the water to come back up on the beach to interact with our sculptures.
Finally we got some water-wood contact.
This session gave us important hints on how time and the slower pace when working are crucial for our process. The changing of the space over time, be it one day as well as a season also became even more evident in the choice of future location of work with (Material) Site Recordings.
