Spina, Femur och Thorax - ett anatomiskt verktyg för barnsjukvård

Abstract
Hospitals have a set perception as an unpleasant and frightening atmosphere. The examination-rooms of today within the children’s hospitals are often bare and needs embellishment and decoration to create a satisfying setting. The decoration might have the function as a divertion from pain and anxiety. According to my experience the decorations of today consists mainly of Winnie the Pooh figures, a clown or a hockey poster, never anything linked to the body and it’s functions. Spina, Thorax & Femur is a project that focuses on the visual identity and possibility to a deeper understanding and playfulness around the body perception within the nursing environment. A visit at the hospital could be part of a creative knowledge acquisition. The project result are two boards of glass-enamelled steel. One of the boards has a cut out bodyform in a diffrent colour and the other consists of movable magnetic bodyparts and organs mountable to the bodyboard. Caring staff and patient can together by these two boards easy explain and get to understand the functions of the body. To be able to visualize the actual diagnose in this way, gives a possibility to understand and adapt the condition both for the child and the realtive. Children have the right to be taken seriously and have the right to get to know.
