Language use in metal song Lyrics: A study of the song lyrics of the Swedish power metal band Falconer

Abstract

This investigation shows that the lyrics of power metal can deal with a wide range of topics; from love, freedom and oppression to grief, greed and poverty. The level of language is high, without many mistakes and with proficient use of different literary devices such as rhymes and metaphors.
