Der unbekannte Kontinent. Zur Europa-Darstellung bei Karl-Markus Gauß
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the Austrian author Karl-Markus Gauß' literary representation of Europe. The study focuses on the book "Im Wald der Metropolen" by the mentioned author and compares it with other relevant texts by him. The topics and issues emerging in this reading are contextualized and compared with notins and concepts linked to the current political, social and cultural situation in Europe. The purpose of these comparisons is to try to understand and represent the author's vision and representation of the continent, with the aim to, on the one hand, recognize what literary idea of Europe the author could be seen as subscribing to, and, on the other hand, to better understand the European issues relating to, for example, eastern Europe, intercultural phenomena and minority groups through the novel.
