“CUANDO ESTOY AQUÍ QUIERO ESTAR ALLÁ” - La construcción de la soledad en Todo Nada de Brenda Lozano
Sammanfattning
The aim of this study is to analyse how the main characters in the novel Todo Nada (2009) by Brenda Lozano experience solitude and loneliness, as well as their attitudes towards it. A comparison of these experiences regarding similarities and differences in age is also made. The novel tells the story of a young adult who tries to cope with the death of her grandfather. As an attempt to understand and deal with her anguish she tells her memories of her grandfather and the stories he told her. Since the fields of solitude and loneliness as literary themes still is vastly unexplored, psychological studies made by Jacob Y. Stein y Rivka Tuval-Mashiach (2015) and Mark G. Davies (1996) are used to make the analysis. The study concludes that loneliness as well as solitude in the novel is determined by the relationships that the characters have with each other. Furthermore, the analysis identifies three ways in which the characters deal with their loneliness: telling stories, reading literature and through their dreams.
