MOTIVAME, QUIERO APRENDER DIVIRTIENDOME Un estudio cualitativo sobre la función de las actividades lúdicas en la enseñanza de español en Inglaterra
Abstract
The fact that there are a significant number of studies in the field of recreational activities and
games in foreign language teaching; shows how important the role of games has become in
nowadays learning process. In the present study the focus is on how recreational activities as
a didactic strategy increase the motivational aspects in a foreign language class. The main
objective of this dissertation is to investigate the manner two teachers of Spanish as a foreign
language use recreational activities such as roll games as a teaching strategy and whether
these activities promote a learning motivation in students. The hypothesis is that the
recreational activities influence the motivation of students and this in return helps them to
learn more. By making use of interviews’ and classroom observation tasks, I accomplish the
mission of collecting the data needed to relate it to other studies and fulfil my goal. The
present study has been based on a primary and a secondary school, for three weeks I have
explored, discussed and assessed the Spanish teaching procedures in two schools in England.
I have therefore expanded my knowledge about it and about the recreational learning as a
teaching strategy. After analysing all the gathered data, this study is expected to bring to the
fore a number of insights to better, support the basis of a complete and sustainable learning as
far as Spanish is concerned.
