El Mundo Hispanohablante

Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze through a qualitative method the representation of the Spanish speaking countries in three Upper Secondary textbooks of Spanish as a foreign language in Sweden and simultaneously, to establish whether the corpus (Caminando 2, Caminando 3 and Caminando 4) fulfills the requirements of the Swedish curriculum for modern languages. Sociocultural concepts, stereotypes and modern languages teaching integrate the theoretical framework used for the research. The final results along with the conclusions show the presence of both stereotypes and ethnocentric/Eurocentric visions of the Spanish speaking countries presented in the chosen texts.
